blackeyedpeas Hard to beat a nice pot of black eyed peas on a chilly day. This recipe is simple, yet packs a bit of spice with the jalapenos.  Give it a try and feel free to tweak the spiciness to suit your tastes.


  • 1 bag dried black eyed peas
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 jalapenos, chopped
  • 3 strips turkey bacon
  • 5 ounces turkey breakfast sausage
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


  • Soak peas overnight or follow instructions on the bag
  • Brown bacon and sausage in a skillet on medium heat, set aside
  • Brown and soften onion in the same skillet
  • Add ingredients to a large pot
  • Bring to a boil
  • Reduce heat, cover with lid slightly ajar and simmer for 2 hours
