After doing a lot of riding on bike paths and within state parks, this was going to be our first ride mostly on regular roads. I was more worried about dealing with traffic than I was about the actual ride. I learned two things on Saturday morning. One, riding on the roads isn’t that bad. And I learned that there is a slight incline all the way from Denver out to Golden. It really saps your energy when you have that slight uphill working against you. When we turned around in Golden, the coach stayed back with me to make sure I didn’t get lost and to give me some tips. The tips were useful and having the coach push me to hit the uphills, flats and downhills harder made the trip back pretty fast.
